Procoptodon is a genus of extinct marsupial from Australia, commonly referred to as the "Short-faced Kangaroo". The largest species, Procoptodon goliah, is the largest kangaroo species ever known, reaching a height of approximately 2.7 meters (8.9 feet). It lived during the Pleistocene epoch, approximately 2.5 million to 11,000 years ago.
Procoptodon was herbivorous, feeding on grasses and shrubs. It had short, powerful forelimbs adapted for digging and long, powerful hind legs for hopping. It is thought to have been an important prey species for many Australian predators, including the Thylacoleo, a large marsupial carnivore.
The Procoptodon has been featured in the game "ARK: Survival Evolved" as a mountable creature with the ability to carry heavy loads.
